Denise Thimes

In a career that spans over two decades, Denise Thimes has truly been one of the most cherished voices of modern jazz. With a number of distinguished gigs across the country and overseas, the rising first lady of jazz is unquestionably on the brink of certain stardom. As jazz aficionado Phoebe Jacobs stated following another famed New York show, “Denise Thimes is like Ella and Sarah born all over again.”

You know, St. Louis has the Gateway Arch, the Symphony, our fabulous Zoo and Art Museum, the City Museum, and a host of other wonderful, wonderful venues for St. Louisans and visitors alike to enjoy at all times. …and then there’s Denise Thimes. and believe me… it doesn’t get much better than that. …and she’s all ours!

I have been scouring the internet to find a Denise Thimes concert since Christmas @ the Four Seasons @ the Lake of the Ozarks. Just a delight! I anticipated her having the annual Mother’s Day concert in St. Louis and was supremely disappointed as the days wound down and I found no notice of a concert. I would love to share her richness in jazz with a cherished friend who lives in St. Louis. Would travel to Chicago if necessary. Any upcoming events?

Hi Billie, I believe Denise did have her annual Mother’s Day concert at the Sheldon on May 11. Other than that, I’m not seeing any upcoming dates on her website either. Jazz at the Bistro is looking at dates with her in Spring 2015, but hopefully you can find another show before then. Good luck! – Devin, Jazz St. Louis
