Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Jeff Coffin, best known for his 14 years with Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, leads the Mu’tet, a group that takes its name from the word ‘mutation,’ reflecting Coffin’s idea that music must continue to change and mutate in order to grow. Coffin strives to expand himself, his band mates, and listeners with music flavored by his wide musical interests. Drawing from the deep wells of African, New Orleans, Indian, funk, jazz, folk, Gypsy, rock, fusion, Brazilian, and other genres, Coffin sends shockwaves down people’s spines with his fierce soloing (sometimes on two saxophones at once) and inspiring, memorable compositions. The Mu’tet, described as “…equal parts Galactic and Dirty Dozen Brass Band” by Jazz Times, features Felix Pastorius of the Yellowjackets on bass, Bill Fanning on trumpet, Chris Walters on keyboards, and very special guest Roy “Futureman” Wooten of the Flecktones on drums.

style: modern jazz / fusion
