Ravi Coltrane Quartet

GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist, Ravi Coltrane, son of legendary saxophonist John Coltrane, has matured into a compelling artist at the height of a career built on his talent, not his name. He is achieving what he calls his goal and aspiration: “to acknowledge with love my influences” (including his father) but to follow his own path, “to make music that is relevant to my present-day experience.” Appearing with his longtime quartet, Coltrane is what one critic calls a “daring spirit” and “a composer-bandleader of distinction.”

“(Coltrane) has become a formidable presence, as he established throughout a heaven-storming set…” – Chicago Tribune

I hope Jazz at the Bistro will host Ravi sometime in the future. He is definently one of today’s best saxophonist. It would be great to hear him live at the bistro.
