It’s always thrilling when members of one family join forces musically, and that is the basic concept for Two Times True, featuring Carolbeth True on piano and her son David True on drums. In performance the Trues are joined by Glen Smith on bass and Larry Johnson on saxophone.
Carolbeth True is one of St. Louis’s finest pianists and a long-time Webster University faculty member. She is also featured in many clubs and concert hall across St. Louis. She has performed with numerous artists including Harry Allen, Buddy DeFranco, Scott Hamilton, Roseanne Vitro, and Bill Watrous, has served as rehearsal pianist and assistant musical director with The MUNY for twenty years, and has performed with the St. Louis Symphony. True was also the 2004 recipient of the St. Louis Magazine “Musician of the Year” award and the 2007 recipient of the “St. Louis Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts,” presented by the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis. Also, in the early 90s, True’s Trio served as the house band for Just Jazz at the Majestic, the predecessor of Jazz at the Bistro.
