Season Preview Happy Hour

Jazz St. Louis is opening its Jazz at the Bistro doors for a behind-the-scenes-look at its 2012-13 Jazz at the Bistro Season.  On Thursday, September 6, Jazz St. Louis executive director Gene Dobbs Bradford and artistic director Bob Bennett will make a multi-media presentation highlighting the season line-up as well as provide insights into how the organization puts together its eighteen week Subscription Series as well as its Spotlight Series, Jazz St. Louis at the Touhill Series, and its Special Event Series at the Bistro.

Jazz St. Louis recently held a private season preview party for 2012-13 season subscribers on August 7.

“We were pleased to offer our most loyal patrons and subscribers a first look at the 2012-13 Season and answer any questions they might have about artist choice or process,” said executive director Gene Dobbs Bradford.  “And now we’re pleased to provide the same opportunity to single ticket buyers or anyone that is interested in learning more about Jazz St. Louis and the outstanding artists appearing on our performance calendar.”

The preview event will be held at the nationally-recognized Jazz at the Bistro venue which was recently named one of “212 Great Jazz Rooms” in DownBeat Magazine’s International Jazz Venue Guide published in February 2012.

“So interested patrons not only get an inside look at Jazz St. Louis’s upcoming season, but they also get a feel for the Bistro venue” added artistic director Bob Bennett.  “It’s a great ‘try before you buy’ opportunity.”

There are a few restaurants in St. Louis that have adopted the practice of a “community table” where you join other diners for your meal; I wish there was a comparable AND comforable choice at JATB for “singles”. The seating all seems to be in multiples of 2.

Coming from Pittsburgh with their great Jazz legacy this venue is greatly appreciated.
To “Ginni”, many time’s I’ve been seated at those tables where couples exist. If the seat is vacant, I’ve simply requested the seat if it was not already offered.

Take care, enjoy and I hope to see you all at Jazz at the Bistro.
