Jazz St. Louis is pleased to announce Wells Fargo Advisors will serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2013-14 Jazz at the Bistro Season. Wells Fargo Advisors’ $100,000 contribution marks the third year the company has made a leadership gift to St. Louis’s premier jazz organization.
“In a city where jazz is such an integral part our heritage, few organizations play as important a role as Jazz St. Louis does in sustaining and strengthening the civic and cultural fabric of our community,” said Danny Ludeman, president and chief executive officer of Wells Fargo Advisors. “We are proud to support the valuable work that they do to enrich St. Louis with music and to enhance our city’s global reputation.”
Jazz St. Louis’s Jazz at the Bistro Season features eighteen international jazz stars on its Subscription Series and showcases a dozen regional artists on its Spotlight Series. The intimate Grand Center venue regularly garners praise and accolades from the likes of trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, USAToday, CNN, and DownBeat Magazine which named Jazz at the Bistro one of “150 Great Jazz Venues” in the world in its February 2013 issue.
“Wells Fargo Advisors is a strong leader in supporting the arts and they are strategic in how they use that support to enhance our community,” said Jazz St. Louis executive director Gene Dobbs Bradford. “We are proud to partner with Wells Fargo Advisors to help connect the region with jazz, an important part of our shared cultural heritage. Their investment will help Jazz St. Louis fulfill its mission to lead our community in advancing the uniquely American art of jazz.”
In addition to an extensive programming schedule, Jazz St. Louis maintains an impressive annual education and outreach calendar which involves nearly every national and international artist appearing on the Bistro stage. These artists spend time in area schools conducting master classes, clinics, and occasionally private instruction with area jazz students. The Jazz St. Louis education program reaches more than 10,000 students annually through its Adopt a School, Artist Residency, Emerson Jazz in Schools, and JazzU programs; all of which are offered at no cost to students or schools, removing any economic barriers to participation.
The 2013-14 Wells Fargo Advisors Jazz at the Bistro Season opens Wednesday, September 25, 2013 with the world-famous Yellowjackets. Additional season highlights include: A Night in Treme – The Musical Majesty of New Orleans with saxophonist Donald Harrison; guitarists John & Bucky Pizzarelli; percussionist Poncho Sanchez and His Latin Jazz Band; vocalist Jane Monheit; and pianist Joe Sample.
